POROUS
Cecilia Reeve’s first independent short film, made during her MA at the Royal College of Art (2023).
In a dreamlike narrative, a woman takes a bath and reflects upon her past experiences; submerged in the water she enters a space out of time. It is an existentialist film questioning the boundaries in between the body and the outside world, between water and skin.
Using traditional frame-by-frame animation, Cecilia combines paint on glass, gouache, and digital animation to create a tactile and intimate film.

“A beautifully hypnotic sensorial experience”
“Cecilia Reeve visually ponders skin as a boundary to show us that an individual body is as complex and porous as an ecosystem... we are struck by the complex and unfamiliar territories within our own bodies.”
