SLEEPWALKING

10th of October - 20th of December 2025, SOHO REVUE, 14 Greek St, London W1D 4DP

‘Sleepwalking’ was an immersive animation installation presented at Soho Revue for three months. The installation conjured a hypnotic, intangible space between reality and dreams, inviting audiences into a suspended, liminal world.

Sleepwalking draws on the Surrealist belief that cinema manifests the unconscious: a darkened room in which viewers are transported from their physical bodies into a world of images. The animation begins with shadowed hands pulling back heavy, Lynchian theatre curtains. A puppet-like shadow play unfolds: a glowing figure steps into a reflective, dreamlike room populated by birds and fish. Anonymous hands shape and disrupt the scene, questioning ideas of agency and authorship.

The three-minute loop was created with traditional 2D frame-by-frame animation techniques using cell animation, watercolour, and digital animation.

Featuring Sound Design by Eleanor Fineston-Robertson and Original Score by Sam Black.
